Who is Dr. Carole Gilmore?

My journey as a counselor began with a strong desire to make a difference in people's lives. I pursued my education in counseling, and after years of training and experience, I finally achieved my goal of becoming a licensed mental health counselor.

As a counselor, I have had the privilege of working with diverse individuals and families. I have helped people navigate difficult life transitions, overcome personal challenges, and develop the skills they need to achieve their goals. It has been a humbling and rewarding experience to witness the resilience and strength of my clients as they face their struggles.

One of the most important lessons I have learned as a counselor is the power of human connection. Building a trusting relationship with my clients is crucial in helping them feel safe and supported. Creating a safe and non-judgmental environment allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism or shame. Through this process, clients can gain insight, develop coping strategies, and ultimately achieve their desired outcomes.

While working as a counselor has been immensely rewarding, I returned to school after years of working in the field to earn my doctorate. While working on my dissertation, I transitioned from direct client counseling to providing counselor supervision to those seeking full licensure, teaching in higher education, and providing mediation and parent facilitation services.

Being a counselor is not always easy, but it has always been meaningful. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to help others when I was actively seeing clients. Now I am proud to be helping those who are in the various stages of their journey to becoming counselors.
